JUST A FEW WORDS

About the event

 Swadesh Science Congress

This year Swadeshi Science Movement is organizing the 29th Swadeshi Science Congress at ICAR-Central Plantation Crops Research Institute with the focal theme, “Science and Technology for Sustainable Development” and Sub Theme on “Water Resource Management”.

Benjamin Franklin said that “when the well is dry, we know the worth of water”.  265 years after this mention, not only do we understand, but also are perilously close to experiencing the true implications of “World Without Water” – the new www. In his first Mann Ki Baat radio programme after winning a second term, Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi stressed on the importance of water conservation. In three requests to the public, the Prime Minsiter appealed to all Indians, including eminent people from all walks of life, to create awareness on water conservation, share knowledge of traditional methods of water conservation, and share information on individuals or NGOs working on water.  He also said that there is no fixed way to conserve water, but different methods may be adopted in different places. However, he underlined that end goal is to save every drop of water.

Keeping this in mind the 29th Swadeshi Science Congress has a special theme on “Science and Technology for Sustainable Water Resource Management”. The venue of the Congress is at ICAR-Central Plantation Crops Research Institute, Kasaragod – 671 124, Kerala. The Institute is located about 4 km north of Kasaragod town on the National Highway (NH 66) connecting Mangaluru. Nearest railway station is Kasaragod which is 5 km away from the Institute. Nearest airport is Mangaluru.
